We were very excited to have received delivery of our new chairs in the week before Christmas 2017.
In common with many other churches, St Mary’s Lytchett Matravers has replaced its church pews with chairs. This is to allow for more flexibility in worship and also enable other related activities to take place within the lovely old building that is your local church.
The chair is the Treske “St Magnus”, so called because it was designed initially for St Magnus Cathedral on the Orkneys. It was chosen for its looks, sturdiness, comfort and practicality. It has a rack underneath to put your bible, hymn book, order of service, other papers and personal belongings.
Each chair cost £230 and although they have been delivered we are still happy to accept any donations towards paying for the 100 chairs, or if you wish we can put your donation towards our matching choir frontals which are going to be made by a local craftsman in the new year. For £230, you could purchase an entire chair on behalf of the church; with Gift Aid, that is only £184. Alternatively, you could contribute to part of a chair e.g. £90 for a seat or a back and £50 for the legs, again reduced with Gift Aid. We are very grateful for any donation you are able to make.

For us to be able to claim Gift Aid on your donation, including if you use BACS, we will need you to print the form below filling out from a single named donor (these forms are available in church)
We will also have a folder in church in which – but only if you agree – we will display a copy of your certificate e.g. if the donation is in memory of a person or event, or if you would like to be publicly associated with the provision of the new chairs.

Please print out a form and put it with the payment onto the collection plate at church or give it to the Treasurer (Roger), Chair donation Administrator (Alan), Church Warden (Annie or Mat), Vicar (Stephen) or a member of the PCC.
